Sick ... and other miserable things

July 23, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

(I'm writing this on Sunday -- that will make sense in a minute)

So I was sick on Thur and Fri. I was hoping I could double up on Friday to make up for the missed workout on Thursday but I was miserable all night. It wouldn't have been bad but I was having trouble breathing and felt really weak.

Saturday I was feeling better. Went to work and everything and it was all fine so I was all set to do a run. I started out and felt decent -- my breathing was pretty shallow so that was a pain but I figured it'd subside.

Around mile 3.5 I started hacking something up and the run just went downhill from there. Started getting really hot and woozy and felt really weak, so I stopped my watch so I didn't stress myself out. I pushed through and did the 7 I planned but when I was done I felt like I was going to pass out. When I got back to the apartment the AC shocked my body and I started shivering uncontrollably so I took a hot shower, and all the changes in temps apparently freaked me out and I was shivering and in a cold sweat for the next 2 hours. Took some meds and wrapped up in a blanket all night and choked down some soup, but things weren't looking promising.

Woke up today and felt decent again. Went to work and decided I'd try running while we set up towers (about a 3 mile run in all) to feel out how my lungs were doing. Lungs felt way better, but 1 mile in a blister on the bottom of one of my toes popped and started bleeding everywhere. I (stupidly) decided running through it would be a good idea and made it another half mile before calling it a day.

I cleaned it and wrapped it while at work but I can't really put any pressure on it, so that killed the chance of getting my long run in today. Hoping it was a sign that I'm still sick and wasn't meant to run, but I'm still pissed.

Bright side -- my IT doesn't really hurt. But it may just be covered up by the plethora of other pains attacking my mind right now.

So I'm throwing in the towel this week and starting anew tomorrow. Here's hoping next week turns out a little better.
