mlk tempo

August 29, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
the first of many mlk tempos went off without a hitch. coach emphasized being relaxed and that today the pace was not supremely important. we certainly took the second part of that statement to heart. the first mile, unsurprisingly, was fast, about 5:35, then we hit about 5:41 for the next 3. i felt like i was running right around threshold most of the time, which was good, and i guess the goal of a tempo. however, when we picked it up the next two miles, i struggled a bit. ethan, peter, and chris wade, thankfully were there to encourage me, and i hung on for a 5:35 and 5:28 last two miles. hr was 168 afterward, and i was very satisfied with my tempo. we walked around for a bit, then jogged over to the track for 3x300m striders. these felt more forced, with it being a little difficult to get my legs moving fast. cooled down straight to veale.
downstairs for lift day 1 week 2. easier than last week, and took less rest. but the weight was lower for some exercises and higher for others. back up for static 1, eagle x30 (single leg hip raise makes my hamstrings hurt.), wanted to ice bath, but too long of a line, so i'll do it tomorrow.
RHR(morning): 48
