Race Day

Comments:
Race Day. Wasn't sure how I'd feel based on some of the aches/pains in my legs throughout the week. Just didn't feel ready to race and felt a little sick when I woke up.

A little nervous to get back in to it when I was on the line, but it also felt great to be back at it again. Knew I'd at least be in the front pack so put my self in the group of 6-7 leaders....thinned down to 3 by half mile in. Splits were all messed up because of the different starting lines and the 1/2 marathon marks.

Dropped a 200 meter surge at a "mile" in to test out the other runners...got dropped a bit. Started gaining ground again in the final mile and started moving early. Began pushing it a lot with 800 left and really started to make my move with 600 to go...moved a couple meters behind the leader. Split about 15:58 through the 3 mile (or at least approximate 3 mile mark). Not an instant enough pace change with .1 to go...more like an accelerator which cost me the 2nd place finisher at the end (turns out I was second overall based on chip times though)



Again, splits are very approximate because of markings 5:10-5:28-5:20
