Race was good and bad. I felt like I had a lot of energy and wasn't dehydrated or anything, but my hamstrings tightened up in the first mile which was bad and I chose spikes that were too long for the dryness and gravely-ness of the course. 2 bugs also flew into my mouth, which was good because it counts as 4 leaves towards the season, but bad because it's very disconcerting to have a dry throat and something moving around in there. I had a small victory in the third mile (when the 2nd bug flew into my mouth) because I bit down on it before it could get into my throat, and thought, "Protein!"
I could have tried harder, but I really just don't like to race.
