Finally.
This is the first time in almost 9 months I have felt good about the state of my running. Yes, my time was crap, but like the fact that I was able to run all out in a meet with out too much pain (well mostly) felt amazing. Also it was a classic course, at a classic meet with 12 hours of team bonding, it really brought me back to the fun I had freshman year. I had begun stressing about this race a good 4 days before it actually happened, so I was a little wound up before the race. About an hour before it I decided that I wouldn't even care about my knee or my time (two big thigs on my mind) and that my goal was just to mentally give it my all and have a shitload of fun, (because thats whats cross country is all about right?) Anyways, I thought it was a good decision, and I thought (and I guess so did Anthony) that I ran well. There's still a nagging voice in my head that I could be doing so much better at this point, and how out of shape I am etc etc, but I'm trying to ignore it.
Race-wise, I felt like I tackled Maintenance Hill and the Phantom Hill and the downhills well, but i sort of lost my focus on that long flat stretch, which I wasn't too happy about. Also I felt completely defeated and slowed down a bunch on that long uphill ramp near the finish (not the big hill right before the downhill to the finish, the on before it). I was pretty pissed about that moment of weakness, but overall a good race;
I've been mostly frustrated about my running this season, but today I was actually happy. Looking forward to more days like this.
