Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
not so much in the mood for a work out at first. really wanted to be on the girls team run. but really wanted to get a work out in, so i did - with Kate, Lucas, Scott, and a couple other boys.
eventho anthony wasn't actually with us, could feel his presence thru his friend (forgot his name - that guy he went to college with). anyway, i know this sounds silly, but it was nice to feel connected - maybe it was just the haverford presence that i felt
striders - just felt anxious...retied my shoes about fifty times. exagerated - but litterally at least once btw every stride, plus a few times before and after.
was a little excited when i actually started the first hill, and was actually somewhat motivated - until i was about 80% up the hill, where the hill just seemed to go on forever. thought about being done and just running back to school.
2nd hill: kept in mind i had 3 more and stayed back with Kate and Lucas for most of the hill. focused on the crest of the hill and the downhill. thinking about giving up.
3rd: nearly gave up. fell way behind everyone. coughed a lot (lingering cold)
4th: determined. no way i was skipping out on this one - not only that, was was gunna push myself. and i did. mind over matter - cliche...anyway, was proud of myself. steady progression and increase in speed: started strong, then kept working myself harder as i worked up the hill. completely took anthony's colloge friend's advice (overheard him telling someone to look up, so i consciously picked my head up and focused on my goal: the peak - which in turn picked my knees up, my posture up, my form...) this time, when i reached 80% up the hill, i was ready to really push, and i didn't stop till i was up and over the crest. then let my legs fly downhill. could have pushed more on that downhill, but i was still proud of what i did - it was enough. i ran good. mentally, very proud.
was so relieved after all that. i thought 4 seemed like so little compared to what i usually do - guess not...
was afraid how hard it might be with out the team really, and without my usual teammates. but pleasantly surprised by how i was still able to use those around me - used lucas a lot, and kate too at points (on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th hill, she was like that motivated voice behind me - only those evil footsteps on the 2nd)
phew!
