Veteran's Day 10k

Was in a little bit of a rush to get a warm up and everything done before the start. Went to the bathroom just after getting in an easy jog and had to wait for 15 minutes. Ugh. By then I didn't really have time for any drills or strides and just went to line up. Got out pretty relaxed, and just stuck with John through the first "mile" in 5:00. Definitely a little short as we weren't going that fast. Next mile was probably a little long as we hit 10:35(which seemed about right for 2 miles). Started dropping off the pack a little before 3 miles(16:08). 5k was 16:44. Right around this time I got the worst cramp I've ever had in a race. Legs felt fine the next 2 miles, but just couldn't breath right when my whole right side tightened up. 4 and 5 miles splits were 21:52 and 27:35. Chest started to loosen up a little with around a mile to go I think, but by then I had lost a lot of time. 6 miles at 33:00. Knew it was gonna be tough to run sub 60 from there. Managed a 63 to finish it off. Slightly disappointed overall since I knew I could have run a lot faster if I was 100%. Although it's good to know that there's still something there, and I'm definitely in solid shape now. Finished 20th overall. Really deep field.
