Track Time

Comments:
Got up at 8:45 today with Ken and we headed over to the indoor track around 9:30 to meet coach. Sam, Joe, Steve, and I did a warmup mile around the track while our sprinters and field events were in full force. After coach got there, we did 3 miles, stretched and did drills, and then headed out to the outdoor track. We started with four 200s, with jog 200 break in between each:

The wind was ridiculous, straight into our faces on the back stretch every time but we didnt let it slow us down. Then came the hard part. 10x400 with jog 400 recovery. We alternated leading, and Steve and Simon only had 8 to do. We lost Joe on the warm-up run because he hit the curb and rolled an ankle, and shoved off to the trainers. Poor guy. Our first set looked a little like this:

We had a jog 800 here between sets, and Simon decided he was only gonna do six because he was feeling sick. Steve, Sam, and I continued to swap leading for each rep. The next three were:

At this point, Stephen dropped out and only me and Sam remained. He took pace for the 9th, and I had the last one:

I was shot on the last one. Mitch did it with us because the other Md's left for their next rep without him. This was a good mental workout, good to prepare us for the upcoming season. Etters is stepping up our training in a big way. We hit the pool afterwards to do drills and the Goose for lunch. I got the Mastadon, and it was delicious.
