West Point

Today was my day to see where I am at in my fitness level. Got up at 6:45 because our van had to leave earlier, and walked to Trembley to meet Ty and Knouse and Nick, and we drove down to Johnnys and picked up some food. We had a nice van ride over to West Point with Etters driving, and the 5k was the first event. We warmed up alongside the Hudson. Its a really beautiful campus, but the only flat part we could find was a gravel path on the side of the railroad tracks. I took a mighty fine spill on the way back but recovered nicely. The race went off and Flach and I went right to the front, except he didnt want to take pace so we slowed to a 38 first lap. An Army kid took it from there and we started to increase pace. We hit the mile in around 4:49, and kept around that pace for a few laps. At 2800, I made a bug move on the back straight and passed Flach and the Army kid, and dropped a 69 second lap. I broke Ty and some other guys immediately, but Flach and the Army kid held on for a while. I kept pushing, and knew the last mile was gonna be pretty hard. I hit 3200 in 9:32 and kept going, eventually breaking the line in 14:53, six seconds off of IC4As. I will get there soon. Five mile cooldown with the boys and then I got to sit back and watch the rest of the meet, which was very nice.
