Got to GG Park a little late, had to run in for 2.5 miles from the neighborhood (this sucked, I did not get a chance to relax/stretch as I usually do), quickly change, say a quick prayer and rushed to get started. By the time I crossed the starting line, massive amounts of folks and I spent a lot of effort weaving in and out for almost the first 2.5-3 miles. Felt discouraged about this, but kept pushing, forcing myself to still try for a PR. Running in the new MV2 flats started to bother my right calf, so altered my stride a bit for some comfort. Was able to find a rhythm, hit good splits after, 6:09, 6:05, 5:52, 5:54, 6:03, 6:13, 6:05, 6:04, 6:04, 5:56, (.25 @ 1:25). Felt strong at the points in the race where I wanted (Great Highway out and back). My secret wish was to run under 1:20, so I'll keep trying. Overall, though the beginning setbacks, it worked out to be a PR and felt good enough for a bike ride afterwards. Newton MV2, CEP compression socks.
