Well that will go down as one of my better State Championship performances. I have a history of choking at big meets, but this time I did a pretty good job. First up was the 4x8, where I was expecting a second place finish without Spencer. Indeed, when I got the baton we were maybe 20 meters behind Ellsworth, so I went out in a controlled 62.high for my first half, slacked off a bit on the third lap (although it didn't matter since I was still reeling in Ellsworth's third runner) and then blasted the last lap to put a huge gap between us and Ellsworth. I ended up being 2:06.high with a medium effort, which gave us enough of a lead that Thomas could run an easy 2:15 and we could still get a shiny silver medal. Our time of 8:51 was pitiful, though, so I doubt we'll be going to New Englands. I guess that we won't be getting the Indoor 4x8 school record this year, even though it seemed like a given at the beginning of the year. Next year we might have a shot at it though. Tristan might be around 2:13, Spencer and I will probably be able to pull off 2:04 relatively easily, and with those times we just need to get someone to run a 2:14 and we're set. Hopefully we'll get a good freshman who can handle that.

Anyway, after a minimal cooldown and around 3 hours of rest, the 800 was up. I went out with the lead pack in 29.high, and stuck with them through the half in around 60. I was pretty set on PRing at this point, which led me to keep up that pace through the 600 in around 1:31. Unfortunately I fell off the pace for the last lap, not realizing I had slowed down until Liam and Taylor appeared on my shoulders. They both caught me and I finished in 2:04.56, which is still a PR by over second. However I feel like I could have closed much faster had I known how slow I was going, so although I'm happy with my time, I'll always dream about how great it would have been if I had closed in 31 instead of 33.

Anyway, Falmouth as a team did poorly with so many injuries, and we finished a disappointing third behind Waterville and York. I was expecting this from the beginning, but it was still hard on the team.
