Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
beautiful weather-- perfect for the first outdoor track workout of the season. i was a little frustrated at first, because we were going to do the workout indoors, and then switched at the last second. the goal was to run quarters at 67-71, with 30s rest until failure, failure being defined as running a 72-second quarter. we got forgiveness on the first one, to find pace, and oddly enough, we hit 72 for the first one. then a few 70-71s, then a bunch of 69s.
i didn't really count how many we had done until 10 or 11, when i looked at the number of splits on my watch. around that point i started to doubt myself-- i wasn't sure how many more i could do. i had ~16 or so as a goal in the back of my head, since that's what ethan did earlier, but figured i'd just keep running and see what happened. chris led most of them, which made it easier. we started a few seconds behind the girls on their last one, and caught them on the back stretch. natalia didn't let us pass her, and must've finished the last 2 in 34. mad props. around that point we were running ~68, and had a nice string of those where it was effortful, but we weren't dying. number 17 was 70-71, and chris announced that he really needed to defecate. ok. last one. ran hard-harder. finished and felt really strong along the back straight--66. where was that sunday?
regardless, a great workout. i never thought i would run that many 400s. it reaffirms my thinking that if i can do that, i can do anything. the sky's the limit!
cooled down back to veale, then added a little more on the indoor track. my right hamstring's got this weird twingy feeling, and it's been there since before the workout, and still there today. static 1, roll, acex60.
