good track workout :)

March 2, 2012 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
meant to do this on Wednesday. but this works too.

had planned to do a 5k's worth of 400's before I heard about your guys' 400's rep. workout. mine was much friendlier because I didn't have to do more than 12.5, no matter what, and I took a full 200 jog recovery between each. they were basically minute recovery. that's probably being waaaay too kind to myself, but I still think this went well. I wanted to do a workout in which I could actually run my ACTUAL 5k pace, so 88's, for me, would constitute a PR, and that was my goal for this workout. to re-learn that pace. see what it actually feels like. (cause we all know just how bad I am at that. Hi Thea :P ) I actually ran half of them at 87, with 2 85's, 1 86, 2 88's, and 1 89. and the last 200 was a 38. so this was actually significantly faster my 5k pace. which is probably expected because I had shittons of recovery time. overall 18:01. It's funny how much easier it is to do a successful track workout if you're not alone doing it. there were other people on and around the track, and the weather was GORGEOUS. not even windy. I think those thing made a HUGE difference from the last two track workouts I've done up at UWIC.

Legs feeling GREAT. A little sore perhaps, but in a good way. Was absolutely NOT expecting any positive reactions from my body after the scary long run yesterday, this this afternoon, and an intense hour of yoga right before this, which wrecked my thighs. I feel great though!! Taking tomorrow off to go on a day trip to Oxford and Blenheim Palace with the IFSA-Butler people. To London first to go to the Butler office. I don't even know what Blenheim Palace is. I find it very strange that I've never even heard of this. And I'm not really looking forward to this trip at all, because only ONE other Cardiff person is going on it, and I can't stand her at ALL. And I'm going to be stuck with her for about 16 hours. Someone please shoot me now.

Aimed for 52.5 miles this week. Think I missed by a little bit. Thanks to those two epicfail 10-minute-mile-pace runs earlier this week. I've been going up by 7.5 pretty much every week this month, so next week I'm going to go for 60. I'm scared but at the same time, I feel great, and I'm not training for anything, so I have nothing to lose. This is such a strange running position to be in! :P
