Winding Down - Start of Spring Break

March 2, 2012 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
5:30 in Drinker and my dorm is empty, as well as the rest of campus. Kenny and Sam are on their way to Boston, and Russ and Austin have both gone home. I have a lot of thoughts about this past week going through my head right now. I believe that I am capable of things no Lehigh runner has ever done before. I can break that school record of 14:12 next year at least, and I think I can go under 14:20 this year. My training has been incredible lately, as I am on pace for 78 miles for the week. My legs handled the doubles fine this week with the workouts, and I believe that I am poised for a breakthrough during this month off of racing that I am about to have. Mileage is definately on the way up, and I am increasing the long run to 15 next week regardless of what coach says, shooting into the mid 70s for the week in six days. I can't pass it up, considering how nice its gonna be running in deep creek. Ty is primed to have a breakout race on Sunday, and it is well deserved. Evans will be leading us out, my last indoor race with him. Ty and I will be pushing the envelope right behind him. The plan is 9:17 and go. It will be incredibly painful, but I think I can run 14:30. We both can. It would not require a super-human effort either. This meet is important to me, but after the injury it is not the most important. I am building my outdoor base right now, and it is coming incredibly well. I have felt decent every run this week, and am feeling some turnover that I didn't have before.
Today I met Ty, Nick, Joe, and Stephen at the UC front lawn. Nick had a nice night with Victoria last night, and is supposedly running on 30 minutes of sleep. We ran Center-Main 8, and Piece pushed the pace some during the run. We had some nice training talks and made fun of Nick a little for munching Victoria's box during lunch today instead of eating with us. Always good times with the boys. Me and Ty did a stride on the brick road at the tail end of the run. I think we should both be shooting for Nationals in cross next year. It's not that farfetched. I feel that anything is possible right now. Anything.
