good tri-meet at Maine-endwell

April 17, 2012 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: pretty nice, bit chilly

Comments:
Got there, felt pretty lazy, but somewhat excited for my 4x800 and 800, until i saw that cartwright put me into the 2 mile also. Did a quick warmup, and ran the 4x8 in a 2:08, not too easily actually. I wasnt straining too much but my breathing was not good at all. Almost took my inhaler after that race but decided i should suck it up. Did a cooldown and then a warmup for the 800. Went out hard and led the whole time. Challenged a couple times by "Bruce"? maine endwell guy, but outkicked him. again felt not too easy because of breathing issues but muscles and everything else were all good. Then the 2 mile came and cartwright said to run the race as an easy cruise win. So i stayed with the rest of the corning guys behind the sme maine endwell guy that i raced in the 800, and the first mile went out in a little over 5 minutes, which was nice and felt very easy, however my breathing really was beginning to annoy me. right before the 1200 (to go) i felt the pack breaking apart and looked up and saw that sam and noah were falling back. I order to save my own race, i knew i had to go up with the blue dude cause otherwise i would fall back. There wasnt a second of doubt in that race and i knew i could win it if i wanted, but i also was getting quite annoyed by my lungs hurting. so with 1200 to go i was fighting the urge to drop off all the way to the 400 where i knew i could outkick him, so i passed him with 300 to go and thought i broke his spirits but then with 200 to go he surprised me by coming up once again, and so i threw in another surge and thought i had him but then with 50 to go he challenged again and i kicked it in for a first, but i was very impressed cause that guy had a lot of heart in that race to lead the whole time and finish that strong. Kudos to him. I got home and did my ab routine, 50 pushups, 11 pull ups, hip routine, lifted, and stretched. Good day all in all.
