Comments:
We were going to have the relays yesterday but they got postponed to today which was unfortunate because i had a 171 recital today, but i talked to patty and she was able to move the dance that jeff, liza and i were in till the last dance of the show, so we had time to go to the meet, quickly drive to elmira, and then dance. I made a smoothy and went to rosary in the morning, ate a muffin and eggs and toast for breakfast, then had a bit of the smoothy 2 hour before the race while one the bus.Unfortunately my digestion was not as fast as usual and i was still pretty full when i got to the 4xmile (and actually it didnt get any better all day). I got the baton from noah at the same time as josh got it from ari, uinfortunately our handoff went badly and i therefore had a panic attack and went out in 61 for the first lap to get ahead of josh when i should have just drafted him. It started hurting pretty badly at 600 to go and i just kinda finished, got josh by a couple seconds but it was ok. I went 4:26, i think tim went 4:31 tom4 4:39 noah 4:35. our official 4xmile record for the section and meet was 18:14.14 i think (not sure to the exact decimals). but overall i was ok with that one, especially going out so hard, but then again not entirely thrilled. went on a cooldown to the falls and lots of jogging between the mile and dmr. Felt really tired and out of energy. The dmr i wanted to go 3:12 but i also wante to draft the first lap but no one went out fast enough so i took it but then i was playing surging games to try to gap the group so my time suffered but i got a few seconds away from the group. 3:17, our dmr came in second. Went to a jungle with sam and tim and john after that for a cooldown/ warmup for the 4x800 steeple. Then, the race came along and i again was feeling much more tired than i had been in a long time. jeff started off for us, and he did pretty well, but cory got elmira a very nice lead. Then sam an john ran and with 150m before i got the baton, i wasnt sure if i could catch up on the gap so i asked cartwright what to do and he said I had to try (i think at this point elmira was about 180m ahead and vestal about 100m) so i decided i had to go for it and my tiredness turned into focus and its the first time i felt really focussed in while so that was nice. I got the hand slap and took off as fast as i could, fortunately the barriers positioned themselves nicely so that they were right in tune with my stride so i didnt have to stride out or chop steps, i just hurdled them which felt really cool. Gained a lot on both elmira and vestal on the first lap, and went out in 60-61 and the elmira got passed by both jade and i, so it was only jade left, and i was just thinking that i had to get him. So i gave it my all to catch up, but when i reached the steeple, i figured there was probably just barely too much space between us and i wouldnt be able to get him. aalmost tripped over the last barrier, but then i kicked as hard as i could (which was pretty slow at this point) to finish with a pretty good time of 2:07 (2nd place). Really happy with that race cause it was fun having that type of focus once again. Guys and girls won, which was really cool too. went on a cooldown barefoot up to the top of the waterfalls, and then went to the recital to dance. Plus i didnt drop anybody in partnering so it was a good day!
