Ran down to Forest Rd to get CC's car with Benson before work.

Memories of the night before dancing in my head.

Here are two emails I wrote to MH documenting the activities of the previous evening:

Same here. I got about 3 hours rest…

Such a good night though. I was out with Carolyn’s crew and met an actual Hollywood director.

He was in town shooting ROD so Linda Boyd introduced him to us and I was actually holding my own talking movies and novels and politics with him. Pretty cool to meet someone who directed Michael fn’ Caine. And the Rock.


But that wasn’t even the craziest part:

Remember me talking about my grandfather who had like 4 families??? I finally met one of my half-cousins last night. Her name was D. Snow and C rowed with her as a spare this summer. Amazing. She’s a lot like me. We have the same hair.

I enjoyed the sporting side of the Regatta. I was just watching the races and hanging with the ROD crew. I never bothered looking at any of the booths or gambling games. It seems to me that there’s a lot of sugar and saturated fat at the Royal St. John’s Regatta. Not many people look happy when they’re eating junk food, did you ever notice that?

Well, Brad Peyton talked a bit about premonitions that he had as a child. His mom had them too during her career as a nurse. And then many other things that are unexplainable. I brought up the recent story about the fisherman whose boat sunk on the day of his funeral. We got silly and Linda talked about her idea of having a View (an America all-female talk show) but here in Canada. He told her to “not settle for silver.” So he told her to get the BEST hosts and not settle for anything less. Amazing to hear someone talk like that in a circle (his last movie had an $80 million budget).

I brought up the fact that in Canada, unlike in America, if you have an opinion, many people will interpret that as being rude, aggressive or obnoxious – something I don’t believe. Linda said she never thought about that but conceded that I had a point there. Go, Adam!

We also talked about wars and politics… cool stuff. Peyton had a lot of stats to present and think about.


Oh, and the ROD crew won their heat and improved their time by a whooping 50 seconds! One of the women on the team is 51 but has the body of a 25 year old. She almost got into a fight with my half-cousin. C and I had to defuse that situation quickly.

Yeah, I’ll be tired but that was a fantastic night.
