Hills and Surges

Had a combination of hill circuits and surges this afternoon. It was pretty hot out, I had some shitting problems beforehand, and was starting to feel the same sick/fatigue feeling from yesterday, so safe to say I was not feeling my best. Warmed up for a mile then ran to near the start of the xc course, and did 4xgravel path hill to near the woods. Repeats were 29-32 seconds so probably a bit short of 200m. I felt ok on these and was up at the front for each. Then we jogged to the 8k mark of the 10k course and did 3 hills there. Times were between 1:31-1:38, it was about 1/3 a mile. These ones I started feeling pretty shitty again so I hung back a bit but was still pretty close to the front. After that we jogged over to get water and then started 5x1 minute surges at mile race pace with 4 min rest between. These were much more to my liking and I was up at the front of all of them feeling quite comfortable. I'm guessing pace for the surges was in the 4:30s-40s range. Once we had finished those we had a 3 mile cooldown, which we kinda took hard for the first 2 miles (6:30s) and then slowed the last one. Felt kinda sore during the cooldown but not too bad after. Overall felt pretty shitty this afternoon but ended up pulling out a satisfactory workout I guess.
