Race #1

Woke up this morning kind of congested again, but I did a pretty good job hydrating during class. As race time neared I slacked off a little on the water and it started getting really hot, so I ended up drinking a lot of water in a little time before the race. We did a 3 mile warmup for the race, and I felt pretty iffy the whole way, tired legs before the race is not a good sign. By mile one of the race (5:03) I was already struggling with breathing but I was up near the front. Mile 2 (4:56) was pretty aggressive too and it took a lot out of me. Up the hill past 2 miles I really started struggling and I was starting to get passed. In the last 1000 I managed to pick it up a bit and finished pretty strong, but my legs just didn't have it today. My 5k split was 16:04 and I finished in 19:05 so my last k was 3:01. After the race I cooled down for a little over 4 miles, and I felt a little better than I did before the race.
