Well this was insulting. I'll be racing tomorrow, along with some other first timers who are coming off of injury or who weren't ready until now, so Mr. Paul had us all run together at the pace that the slowest of us was comfortable with. So basically, while I'm in decent shape and just came off of a C-group workout, I'm forced to run 12 minute pace with the slowest people on our team. Don't get me wrong, I'm not disparaging them, but it was frustrating for me to have to go so slow, and it didn't help that tons of people were there to witness it. Of course I couldn't leave them after I realized how slow we were going, because I'd look like a dick, so I just had to endure. I guess if there is a plus side it's that I'll be fresh for tomorrow's meet, which is at Freeport, the most overtly short "5k" in the state. I ran 18:22 there as a sophomore when I was still getting back into shape, and this time I'm just hoping for sub-19, which would put me in a better place than this time last year.
