Comments:
it was real cold. like <50 when we left the house. i was not ready for it. in addition to the fact that i've already kind of acquired a sore throat, i was not too pumped for the workout for other reasons, it being cold, and i had an unsettling dinner last night, plus the braves lost, which was probably the least of the reasons haha. the workout went fine, all things considered. the goal was: run hard for the first mile (4:50), same effort for second mile (i don't really know what that means, but i think go slower), and finish the 5k strong. and then ten minutes rest, then two interval miles with 2:30 btwn, one on the course forwards, and one backwards.
the first mile was ok-- 5:07-8, and felt pretty tiring towards the end. then once we crossed the mile and started going uphill, my legs felt like jello and i fell off of chris and ethan. i felt like i could barely move. once we got up the hill, i started to relax and breathe, and regain my composure. i don't know if i gained on chris and ethan, or lost ground, but once i got myself back together, i was moving pretty well. mostly motivated by not getting beaten by grogan, i finished pretty well in 16:53. definitely pushing hard towards the end, but not all out. walked around, cheered people in, and waited for ten minutes to be up. the first interval mile was ok. i was with chris and ethan through 1200, and fell off up the hill towards the mile, and came through a couple seconds behind in 5:10. took a few minutes rest, hr was 128, and we started again. going in reverse was real nice for the first 800 or so, but then the long uphill was awful! finishing along the start was weird, and i was pretty exhausted at the finish. got a couple miles cooldown, and then ate, stretched, and hung out with alumni.
also we did this new weird warmup thing. it was new and weird, and i'm kind of indifferent towards it. so if chris and ethan prefer it, then i'll do it.
