Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Went into the race thinking to not think and just race. I basically did that. I got out fairly slow, almost jogging where everyone filed into the woods. It was pretty insane all the dust being kicked up. I ran outside the trail for most of the part up to the bridge, attempting to bypass the people who got out too fast and who were clogging up space. I got to the bridge well, and found Sam before the hills. I got onto his back on the bridge, and luckily Sam decided to be strong today up the hills so I kept telling myself not to let him go - and I didn't. I felt like we maintained, and didn't lose places. At the top of the final hill I decided to let it all go on this downhill, knowing it was all mental from there and the hard work was done. I passed Sam and saw Steve right ahead. I felt like I passed a lot of people going on the downhill, and at the road I found Steve struggling. I caught him and told him to come with me, and surged to the bridge. I attempted to kick into the finish, saw sub 13 on the clock but it wasn't getting any nearer apparently and I was getting passed quite a bit. Ended up being 64th with 13:20.0 on the clock and first for the team. Happy with my mental game more than anything. Great race and Great trip.
