great day. did not see a single person crest that last hill that wasn't working their butt off. girls got 3rd in an ISL that has gotten way more competitive. we won, but not as soundly as we had imagined! I was starting to get worried with all the Sidwell guys I saw ahead of me. the MAC really rose to the occasion, we had to fight. it was a far more competitive race than the IAC. I would've placed 4th in the IAC and didn't even earn all-MAC status! crazy.
anyway, the race. I definitely felt the sickness and lack of training. traded leads with Tristan for the first mile for a 5:20. I was feeling it and would've benefitted from going out a bit slower. I was worried I was going to lose touch with Tristan; with my current health I felt certain he would beat me, but to my surprise I found something after the footbridge and was able to push ahead. I'm proud of him for not just sitting behind me, which would have been perfectly reasonable since I'm the senior. he helped make sure our pace didn't slip for the first half of the race. I didn't improve my position until the last hill, where I caught a guy in blue. then I got sidwell's number 4 in the final straight. my finish wasn't great, I should've gotten the flint hill kid. oh well. ready to run the course for the 6th and final time two weeks from now
