Comments:
Felt good coming in, legs felt fresh. The field went out a little slow the first mile, mostly due to a lot of people falling over and people having to avoid the guys lying on the ground. Went through in about 5:12, which felt good, and was with Sam + Nat at that point. Hung on to the two of them through the 2 mile, but lost contact about 1/2 way up the hill. Surged again on the downhill and held my own on the second hill. A couple of Denison guys got be at the end, which was a little frustrating, but I passed a couple of their teammates in the last 1000m as well. Knocked off a bunch of Oberlin guys at the end. 14 seconds faster than my time early in the season.
Positives: 13 sec course PR, top 50 in conference for first time, beat John from Denison, closed gap to Denison 3-5 group from ~35 seconds at pre-conferences to ~10 today.
What I can do better at Regionals: Kick stronger, stay with Nat/Sam longer (should be easier to keep contact on a flatter course), and catch that Denison group of 3 guys right in front of me.
