Here's the thing about this week: I've been running much more than I ever have. Way more. I had a goal to make this a 60 mile week, and set myself up to make 60 if I ran 10 today.

So I started, and before long felt some strain in my left hip. If there's anything I've learned from XC this year, it's that injuries really demolish all the goals someone can have for a season. So I'm being hugely conservative this track season: quitting running the second I feel an injury coming on. Hence I cut off the run at 5 miles. I didn't meet my goal, but the goals I have for the season as a whole matter much more.
