Well today was a fuck up. I was supposed to race the 3k at Princeton today. I usually leave for these meets as late as possible because I don't like waiting a long time for my race to start. I left my house about 2 hours before the race (it's about a 45 minute drive) but as soon as I got on 76 I got stuck in stop and go traffic. It took me an hour just to get out of Philadelphia. I ended up missing the race and just driving home to Short Hills instead. When I got home I had absolutely no desire to run. Missing the race just took it all out of me. I contemplated just taking the day off but I knew I'd feel like a huge bum if I did that. I decided just to jog down to the track and do a hard mile to at least get some fast work in on my legs. It was cold and windy and the track was still partially covered in snow so I wasn't worried about time. I went through the half in 2:13 and thought briefly about pushing hard for a low-4:20s time, but my limbs just kind of froze up in the cold and I ended up just cruising it in the last couple laps for a 4:30. Afterwards I did a very slow 5.5 mile cooldown. Really disappointed with how today turned out but at least I did something.
