This meet went pretty well. The 4x8 was crap, everyone ran slow so when I got the baton we weren't in a position to score unless I cranked a 2:01 or something, so we decided I'd just go easy to loosen my legs for the open 8. Not sure what I ran so I'm just gonna call it a 2:15 for now (Edit: actually it was 2:19, LOL).
The open 8 was just a race between me and Tyler White. He had a three second faster seed so he was anxious to lead the race, so I followed him through the first two laps (probably like 28-30), then took over with about 200 meters to go (we were 1:31 through 600m). We both died on the last lap but I died less to finish in 2:03.47 to his 2:04. I was .02 off of my outdoor PR but at least I had a state championship to my name (yeah that was the slowest winning time in many years, but I'll take it). I think this is a good precursor to sub-2 during outdoor, because I was on pace for the first three laps. It'll be about getting my speed endurance to a place where I can really kick that last lap. We'll see how that goes.
Then the 4x2 was a piece of cake since we had Andy, who ran 24.8 compared to Mike's 25.3 at New Englands. I ran a decent 24.7, Jacob ran 23.1, and Thomas ran 24.0, so we won with a pretty good 1:36.mid. Jacob and I both decided to forgo our other individual events to focus on the 4x2 at new englands; I figure on the banked Reggie Lewis track, plus with everyone fresh, we should be able to threaten a sub-1:36.
Overall the team was fourth, a pretty poor finish for Falmouth, but we all had a blast anyway. Probably the most fun I've had at a state meet.
