Weather: 70's and Sunny, nice day for a race
Comments:
I felt sick yesterday and didn't run so I wasn't that confident coming into the race. This course is very hilly, and all roads so I kept my expectations modest, I wasn't expecting to come anywhere near my previous PR of 17:40, which I did on a very fast Franklin Park course in Boston. I went out in first with one of my buddies from the cross team at my high school, we went out too fast, droping a 5:31 in the first mile. I lead the entire field for almost half of the race. After that we hit the hills, I fell apart a little, but still came in fourth overall and second in my age group. I ran a minute and ten seconds faster than last year and I feel I had a good effort out there. Kids from my high school team claimed spots 2,3,4,5,and 9 though #5 was almost a minute behind me, and i was about 19 seconds behind the teammate in front of me. I think I could have closed the last mile a little better if I had someone to run with. Oh well. Still pretty happy with my performance.
