Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Went for the triple today for the first time since high school. The 1500 was first and felt great. I sat in 3rd or so with splits of 68 and 2:18 and then moved hard with 400 to go and won by 3.5 seconds. My 3rd lap was a little bit faster than my 2nd, so I'm guessing I hit 1200 in 3:25, making my last 300 45. There was a brutal wind on the homestretch that sucked, but other than that the race felt really relaxed and easy, just like last week.
I got in a lot more running than I meant to before the 800 because I kept underestimating how long the sprint events would take. I'd look at the schedule, think "it's almost my race, I should go do a quick warm up", then I'd come back and they'd still be on like the girl's 400 or something. By the time the 800 finally rolled around I had already run 11 miles and was starting to feel a little tired. I raced like dog shit. I went out really hard and got a big lead on everybody, then I slowed way down to hit the 400 in 61. Some kid passed me at 500m and I just ran like a pussy in 2nd for the rest of the race.
By the time the 3000m started I had run 13 miles and was absolutely exhausted. I was really worried that I was going to overdo it and burn myself out, so I just took the 3000 easy. I sat in like 6th place the whole time and just ran 73s. It felt like a jog but I didn't want to push myself any harder than that.
To summarize: I got in a great workout, a lot of miles, and a nice win in the 1500. My right foot hurt a lot to walk and jog on just like yesterday, but it didn't bother me during the actual races. All in all it was a good day.
