Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
I ended up getting pretty freaked out about the pain I was feeling in my shin on Thursday, and scheduled and appointment for Friday morning with my miracle maker of a doctor. She looked at it, felt around my calf, and decided it was a trigger point in my calf just due to over stressing the muscle. The trigger point shortened the muscle enough to put stress on my shin. I know I've been over-cooking myself in the past couple weeks, but I still believe it'll help me in the end. She did that same treatment she did on my hamstring a few months back (acupuncture needles to release the trigger point), and I was told to take at least a day or so off to let the muscle recuperate from the treatment. I felt awesome today. I actually think this mini break will help me out a lot-- give me a good solid reset where I can build back up a bit and start to feel really good leading up to the marathon. I figure the next three weeks will be an exercise in feeling my way towards a peak. Mileage doesn't matter to me at this point. I just want to get one long-ish run in (15-18 miles) with the middle 4-7 at race pace to sharpen up. Judging from how I felt today though, the rest is going to do me a lot of good.

So in the best interest of Boston, I decided not to run the 20 miler today. I never would have been able to hang back for the first half anyway.
