Tom Foley Invitational @ Home

April 16, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Windy, cool

Comments:
Not the best weather, but at least I wasn't doing any sprinting events. I started out with a not-so-great warmup routine for the 1600, which wasn't enough to get rid of the tightness in my legs. At the line I was hoping to break 4:45, but it became apparent that wasn't gonna happen when I went through the half in 2:25. I was mostly either on Liam's shoulder or right in front of him for that first half, and then he took the lead somewhere in the third lap and at least helped me neg split so I could finish in an okay 4:47, which was fifth overall. That's quite a bit slower than what I was running junior year. That can partially be attributed to the weather and my spikes (my calves were ravaged by the elites to the point that I couldn't run for the next three days. I'll have to remember to wear my OG vics in the 1600 from now on), but the main factor is that my endurance is just shit now. I'm able to run the same 800 as last year, but that's only because my speed and strength are way better. If I want to have any hope of breaking 2 I'll need to work on that.

Anyway after an hour or two I was at the line ready to anchor our 1600m sprint medley. My 800 was cold and alone and I ended up running 2:10, which is decent, especially since I knew I wasn't going all out even though I wanted to, but also disappointing. I wrapped it all up with an okay cooldown
