Track Meet @ Home

May 2, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Cold and overcast mostly

Comments:
I was slated to run the 400 and 4x4 today. It was friggin cold for the first half of the meet, including while I was warming up, but a couple minutes before I got on the line for the open 4 it got really sunny and warm, which was nice. I ended up running a nice PR of 53.25. My first half might have been a bit slow but that let me stay composed in the second half where I gained substantially on Jacob (who was a bit slow by his standards with a 53) and finished well. I was happy with that time, but also a little unsettled since a 53 400m is a bit better than a 2:06 800m and is WAY better than a 4:47 1600m. Granted, neither of those times represented my best efforts, but it's time to kick it in gear. Monday I'll probably run a fresh 800 to chase a PR. Sub-2:03 has been a long time coming.

Anyway in the 4x4 I was alone and managed a 54 for my leg, which was the first leg. The team was all distance runners since Jorma didn't want the sprinters wasting their energy on such an undercompeted 4x4. Not bad, I'd say.
