May 19, 2013 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Nice out - 70?
Comments:
Joe made some BOMB french toast this morning, so once we carbed up, it was off to RF.
Slow-going up Little Bald. Joe had the HR monitor on and we simply "raced the HR monitor". Once over LB, we flowed down the descent. The pace felt easy and smooth and soon enough, we were running by Miller's Defeat (:41).
Kept the effort even all the way down to Dusty Corners while Joe kept remarking that on mellow flats/downs, our HR hovered in the 120-130 range. Good to know for race day! Hit Dusty in 1:08 (:27) and cruised along Pucker Point.
Pace felt awesome, energy was solid and thirst "a thing of the past!". Took 1 gel at Dusty and then another once we got to Last Chance (39:50 split).
Joe wanted to push from LC, so I tried my best to tag along his heels. Hit slab in 9:42, and bridge in ~:21. Then - and I think the coolest part about this run - was that we used the HR monitor to run up DT. I walked a good portion of the bottom 1/3 while Joe mostly ran. We made good time and once I started running, we easily split a solid :29+ to the top. What a great race day split THAT would be!
Pretty cruisy descent down to El D Creek and once at the bottom, it felt like the work for that day was done. Therefore, we walked the entirety up MB (:53).
Solid day and really quality work and feedback.
