hills

i had planned to do a hill workout at south chagrin yesterday, but after the flood and tornado warnings, I decided that wasn't the best idea. today was beautiful weather though, and the trails were nice, if a little muddy. i forgot my watch again, but i didn't feel like carrying my phone. so i started a timer on the phone and left it in the car. as a result, all mileage is estimated, and i really have no clue how far i ran.
i warmed up for a little while and found some cool trails, then once i got near the hills, i picked it up a bit. ran hard up the hills, quick on the flats, and a little slower on the downhills to be careful. it felt great to be running hills, and was the kind of workout i needed. got my hr up and lungs burning, with a little leg soreness too. kept running around tempo effort after finishing the hills, and looped around and back to the car. checked the timer and got some water (~1hr) then ran towards the polo fields a bit, and on some other trails. got back at 1:37, which i will call 14 miles.
back is tight after running hills, but i felt like i got more out of it than tempos in other weeks.
