Static #3
on our run today, we found a nice yellow ball. Chippy ran over and kicked it, and so began the greatest long run of my life. We were about 3 or 4 miles in at this point.
We were kicking the ball around when i believe Tony decided we should try and keep it with us as we ran. On this run we encountered a nice rocky, downhill road. The ball almost fell down a multitude of times, each one resulting in one of us sprinting after it and jumping through the brush to save it.
one such time the ball was bouncing towards a ravine ( a ravine that happened to be draining sewage from the greater cleveland area)
Tony, being the brave soul he is, charged after it with a look of determination I will never forget. "Tony, NO!" yells Patrick as he races after him. The ball seems too far in front of Tony for any hope of rescue but he continues his chase. Once the realization hits that a standing-up kick will be no good, he has to quick make a transition to a slide-tackle in hopes of at least buying the rest of us some time. This attempt heeds no success and leaves Tony sliding towards the edge of the ravine with the ball flying over the edge.
Thankfully, Pat was there to grab Tony's arm and a tree to secure his safety. But now the ball is in the ravine! Slowly floating away in strange blue water that smells of poop.
Thankfully, Chippy and I manage to splash it with rocks so it floats over to John Roan and he can grasp it and we continue our quest.
Before any of this happened, we so happened upon a pleasant birthday party. In hopes of not upsetting the guests we steered clear of the party and ran through the long grass. Oh my heavens no wonder that grass was long. It was a pond... basically. So, my shoes are soaked and brown, I got poop water in my fresh cut on my ankle and there is a yellow ball in the men's locker room shower.
