Today was amazing! I was so nervous because I'm tired of having crappy races and not being happy with myself after finishing. This is the first time for almost two years that I'm actually happy with my race! I was so mentally strong it was great!
My first mile was 6:15. I let a lot of our teammates pass me and was kind of negative before the mile, but hearing the time was encouraging. I kept Laura in sight and was 13:15 at the 2 mile, so I slowed down considerably. With 1000 meters to go I decided I was going to catch up with Laura, but even though I was trying to pick it up the gap wasn't closing. Then I got a little negative because I like the whole instant gratification thing. But I pushed that thought out of my mind and picked it up again. It was a back and forth battle until 400m to go, and I caught Laura and then saw Rebecca and caught her too. I had so much adrenaline and kept passing people through the finish!
I ended up 10th on the team with 20:31, which is 5 seconds off my Case PR. :) Yay! Also sugar shots are what's up.
