monday tempo. felt pretty good for the workout, everywhere except my calves. last week just shredded them, all week they were kind of sore, but i think friday really did them in. maybe not enough stretching. during today's tempo around the end of mile 4 my right calf really tightened up. so i stopped. talked to coach and she said it might be the cooler weather today along with the already tight muscle. i think its mostly due to the amount of stress on my legs last week. i pushed it pretty hard on wednesday and friday, and i still really haven't done a whole lot of hard work like that, really since last year. i have been feeling slow speed wise lately too, and i think its just rust on my legs. coach asked if i wanted calf socks or sleeves, i can't really remember what she said, and i said okay. i think she was going to buy them. i'm not a big proponent of things like that. like all i need is a pair of shoes and shorts, right? but if they help i guess i'll try it. and she offered to massage my calf, which if i recall correctly people say is kind of painful haha. iced my calf and really tried to stretch it out. it doesn't really feel better but i'll give it a few days. for the first time in very long time though, i really have the desire to race. i really would like to finally run well in cross country. i felt better in last week's workouts than i did even in track sophmore year which was probably the peak of my running. and we haven't even gotten to any of the interval stuff yet which is really my thing as far as workouts go. despite today i'm still feeling pretty good about things.
