8k race in 29:57. Two minutes slower than my PR, on the exact same course (Franklin Park). Not overly pleased with my effort or my time, but I'm still getting into shape and I made a conscious decision to "train through." On the plus side, I started near the pack of the pack and probably passed over a quarter of the entrants, never getting passed by anyone else. Had a good 350m kick at the end. Felt somewhat worn and heavy-legged beforehand, not spiritedly. My splits were over 6 minutes for each of the first 3 miles, so I must have really cut it down in the last mile or two to stay under 30, which was one of my goals once the race began.
