went down to the dungeon w/ Emil for a leg day. Broke my own rule about progression and went for 245lb squat. the goal was 4x8 but after 3x8 i felt it was an appropriate workload. it felt challenging but not overly so, hammered the low back pretty hard but i dont feel like it even made my lower back sore.
Went for 205lbs squatting high bar afterwards. did 2x8, felt pleasantly easy! i remember when 205 used to be a huge struggle. although i had a belt for this, i know my core is a lot stronger now.
took off the belt for 2x 10 with 185lbs. once again easy and dynamic.
since today was a higher volume squat day i backed off on the hamstrings, also cuz they still sore as fuck from the previous leg session. just like 3x10 w/ 155lbs.
i actually did calves today surprise surprise. 5x20 w/ like 95lbs on that seated calf raise. annoying AF. then like 3x20 w/ 4plates ish on the leg press, even more annoying.
I was done but Emil wasnt so i decided to just fuck around a bit. practiced my low bar form with 135, doing just a couple of triples. then some triples w/ 135/225 practicing my deadlift form. even did some sumo deadlifts! that shit is hard w/ 225 especially when ur fatigued already.
and then for shits and giggles, tried some olympic lifts! curious as to how cleaning and jerking heavier weights feels like. did cleans, some jerks, and then did a full clean/jerk rep w/ 135. not bad really. my technique sucks since ive never done it before but i did 135 at the end of leg day, as a first timer so not bad.
