Comments:
First run back in over a year, first time trying to get back into training in over two years. I've already got a schedule all worked out, and one that I think I'll actually stick with and not get burned out or bored. Decided to run a hard mile to see where I'm at and so I can check back in periodically. 9 min warmup, stretch, mile on the u of r track, then 7 min cool down and more stretching. Felt really good on the easy parts, trying to go fast again was interesting. Honestly felt like I could have kept going for another lap and a half to two laps at that pace, I just had no leg speed, no turnover. Arms felt really strong (I guess that's to be expected from work) lungs not great but not terrible, but my legs just didn't know what they were doing. After I got home walked the dogs which I think helped loosen out the kinks again which is good. I was already feeling that general soreness and tightness that I had forgotten about, the one that was just there for 8+ years of my life, haha
41, 82, 2:42, 4:04, 5:31 for full mile remarkably even splits, about what I expected time wise, although I thought I'd be able to go out faster and then my endurance would fail me and I'd drop off. All in all, pretty excited to start bringing it down, it really gives me somewhere to start!
