cmu 5k

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
pretty epic race. i've definitely never felt like that during a 5k, certainly not indoors. it was crowded at the beginning, but i stayed calm, and let degen, murphy, and one other guy lead it out. moved up a little into third so that i wouldnt be boxed in. it seemed like degen and murphy were trying to trade off the lead, but i slipped in between them each time one passed, and stayed in second during the second mile. i knew i'd have to make a move eventually, and was thinking i'd move around 1k to go. felt ready at 1200 to go, and moved along the back straight during that lap. i guess it looked like a pretty decisive move, but i didn't feel like i picked up the pace that much. wasn't sure i'd be able to hold on, but had nothing to lose, so just kept moving. had hamm giving me splits at the halfway mark, and got down to 35s, so i knew i was moving quick. couldn't feel degen on my back in the last half mile, but didn't want to risk it. just kept pushing and ended up running a 4:40 last mile, i guess. it was crazy having so many people cheering all the way around the track. the atmosphere was electric. happy with how the race played out, and the time, considering how it was run. i feel like i could run faster, and be a competitor at UAAs. 5k was not so bad.

bummer about the obelisk i guess. we didn't put up much of a show on the guys side, so it's not surprising.
