uaa 3k

March 1, 2014 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
it kinda dawned on me last night, that this would be one of my last uaa competitions. through the years, i didn't value it quite as much as i do now that it's almost over. but after the way the 5k went last night, i started to feel nostalgic for the kind of competition i might never see again after this year. i really enjoy competing for its own sake. running makes me happy, but competition is something else entirely.

anyways, so i felt surprisingly good going into the 3k, and figured it was worth a shot to see how fast i could run. i started on the outside, with the 1-turn break, along with two washu guys. didn't want to get caught behind like at all-ohio, so i moved to the front as we joined back in with the group. they were all sitting around, and i didn't feel like waiting to start the race, so i just moved to the front. shortly afterwards, i questioned why i was leading this race. andrew padgett passed a few laps in and i tried to stick to him, but as more people started to pass i fell back. i haven't seen my splits, but i know i slowed in the second half. still came up with a good finish and a pr, so that was solid. definitely satisfied with the weekend, and very excited about outdoor.
