Exercise Type: Run
Weather: hot in the bright sun, but light breeze and cool in occasional shady patches... 70ish
Comments:
Decided to try a long run this morning. I forgot how hard these are to do alone. While the weather was frankly beautiful, this run has so little shade and the bright sun wore me down. Mostly, I just felt tired all over and had a hard time distracting myself from the tedium of the long run. Took Lily st to the top of Main and then Madaket Road to Sanford farms where I ran the entire 6 mile loop including the extra loop on the way back up. Returned the way I'd come. The sandy, uneven footing was tough, as were the uphills. I was able to accelerate a smidge once back on the bike path and roads. Hard to know about pace. I fear there may have been some stretches over 8:00 pace, but I probably averaged 7:40... or at least I hope so. Felt very wiped out at the end, despite the break after the first mile to stretch and the break at the ocean to "admire the view." Maybe a little dehydrated or still tired form Tuesday, but the bottom line is that I just haven't been getting out for long runs this summer, I am carrying a lot of weight (175lbs), and I've never loved going long alone.
