200s

August 7, 2014 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ran over to the track and did a few 200s. Not too tough overall but I was definitely gassed after the last two. I wasn't really running to build a base as much as I was just trying to get my legs moving and to test out my knee. I focused a lot on my form- knee drive, kick-back, posture- which made me move much faster than I was trying but it didn't feel too difficult either. My knee drive felt great doing striders and pretty strong for most of the 200s, but it got a bit tough on the last one. Minimizing my kick-back was very tough as it felt pretty awkward. I really need to look at some film of myself and others to see if what I'm doing right now is correct or not. I've run fast times with a "long" kick-back so it can't be that much of a detriment, but maybe it is something that I need to change to finally go sub-49. My posture felt great on the striders. I felt very tall which is exactly what I want. It felt pretty good on the 200s but nothing incredible. I also felt extremely strong in my start of the 200 even though it was a standing start. I ain't got these tree trunk legs and a brotha's booty for nothing. One of these days I want to do a fast 200 workout where I go for 24-25 in trainers with 3 minutes rest

32.1, 29.4, 27.0, 27.0

I was gonna go for 6-7 but Ian Dunn (HOOT!) was there then Vlad and Matt (Brad 2.0) came by and I met/talked to Matt's dad for a while. Cool guy, very involved in his son's athletics and in the team, definitely could knock me out in a single punch. Ian said they're on a summer training program that is probably better than mine right now so I'm gonna try to meet up with them Wednesday nights once PT is done
