August 9, 2014 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: low 70s and beautiful
Comments:
Started off feeling blah and meandered up cobblestone hill and out Sherburn. Started to pick up the pace along the Tuppency links and decided to make some effort up the rolling hills past the water tower. By the time I turned for home by Sanford Farms, I was motivated and moving briskly, although I still didn't feel loose or fresh or fast. Still, I must have brought the pace down to well below 7:00 and I worked to maintain the speed, even when my energy began to wane. It took me 19:00 to reach Sanford's gate and 19:00 to come home. Pleased that I made the effort. For the second consecutive day I sprinted the final 100. I'm thinking of these as striders... Am I just tired from playing for another hour int he water with daughters and nieces or am I just hold or am I just still adjusting to summer miles? I'd like to actually feel light and fresh soon. I'd like to be excited by springy legs, or surprised by my pace or eager for a race or workout. This ended up being a low mileage week in nearly ideal weather conditions, and yet I seem to be struggling more than I'd expect. Right knee still hurts a fair bit of the time and plantars often flair at other times in the day. (It doesn't help to be barefoot on rocks, and in old shoes and sandals most of the time... but still!) Hoping to turn the corner soon. 41 seems to soon to be struggling on every run. Darn mind games...
