Oh no...a broken toe :/

July 30, 2014 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Had a fantastic tempo this morning on MLK. The type that reminds me I'm confident I could still be competitive if I can find the time to train during the year.

2 mile warm-up - very nice morning.

Wanted to bring down the pace a tad from my last three tempos - so, miles were:

6:02, 5:54, 6:00, 5:52. A bit more uneven than I would like with that 3rd mile. Otherwise, I was content. HR in 170s @ end.

Cool down back up to Overlook, stretch, and roll.

Then, before dinner later on, I turn the corner into the kitchen, and in doing so knock my little toe on the corner of the wall...which pulls it outward at an unfortunately right angle (made with my 4th toe) and I heard a crack. So, the broken toe (confirmed by x-rays) will shut me down for several weeks - just in time for school to start. Bit of a bummer, was looking forward to running another 5K Saturday and going for the 16s. Guess I'll have to wait a while.

On a positive note to end, what the summer did prove is that if I have the time, I think I can train on my own and be competitive. That's where I'll leave off for now.
