Comments:
A lot on my mind from the race. First of all, I am very happy with the team success, and it was awesome being a part of it. It really seems like great things are on their way. I am a team first person, so it is impossible to be down after such a great team race. For me personally, coming out of the race is a weird feeling. I ran exactly a minute faster than last year, but I gave up after a mile. I'm only disappointed in myself because I gave up on myself so early, and never really tried to get back into it. I could have salvaged the attempt, but I didn't. I need to stick with my group early on, and close hard over the last half, since that is where my strengths lie, not going out hard and holding on. I let my mind dwell on negatives during the race, and that is the recipe for disaster. I am really excited to get through these two weeks of training, and then get to Princeton and prove to myself and my team that this performance is not me, and that I can run fast, and be up there. I worked too hard over this summer and these past few weeks for races like this to define me. I am strong, I am fit, and I am fast. I can run a really good 8k, and I have 2 more chances to prove it.
