Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 40s, heavy cloud cover, spitting sleet at the end
Comments:
After delivering parent-teacher conferences all day, I ran from the LMS to AU to meet Aidan Pillard and David King. Straight up Foxhall is never appealing, but after working out the stiffness on the first few climbs, I realized I was feeling stronger than expected going up past Field. Pace was around 7:00 if I remember the old mile splits correctly.
Realizing I'd be cold and jealous watching their workouts and noticing that David's 6:10 mile pace for the proposed 4x16 would be perfect for me, I joined him. (generous 600m recoveries) Felt very controlled throughout because my mind was on him. Couldn't resist giving him a near constant stream of my own thoughts on pacing. Tried to hold him back on the first few and let him get going on the second half. Afterwards, we jogged back to the HS, and then I jogged home in the very light sleet. Pleased at how easy it all felt.
6:02 (2:58, 92, 92)
6:07 (94, 91, 91, 91)
5:59 (88, 92, 90, 88)
5:42 (85, 88, 87, 81) Couldn't resist kicking the final 100 despite leaving David 2 seconds back... It had felt like a workout for me , and I wanted to finish up on my toes)
