Regionals

November 15, 2014 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
So today marked the last race of my first season of collegiate running. First I'll start with the race itself:
The week prior to this race my legs were feeling sore. This was understandable because it was nearing the end of the season and I completed some difficult workouts throughout the season. The day of the race was very cold, but I knew that I would warm up as the race went on. I went out the first mile around 5:10, which was the fastest I've gone out this year. The course was also more challenging than we expected so that also played a factor. My finishing time was 27:48, 7 seconds off my best time. I was hoping to PR today, but it didn't disappoint me because I felt fortunate to have the opportunity to run. The atmosphere today made the race such a memorable experience.

As I reflect on my first year of collegiate cross country, I am pleased with how the season went. My first ever 8k was a 30 flat and I was able to drop that time to 27:41. It's hard to complain about a 2 minute and 19 second PR. I had a great time running with the guys on this team. They were able to push me to run faster than I would have expected. I thought it was an amazing experience to run at regionals as well. It was a race that I really had fun running despite the challenging conditions. Of course certain circumstances were what only allowed me to be able to run at regionals, but that just makes me hungrier to be on the top 7 for real next year.
