Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
I resent traffic lights. Today I started out on Military (descending) feeling pretty good, although for some strange reason my stride felt off. I didn't, however, have the chance to ever settle into a rhythm, because every time I started to loosen up and relax, I hit a stoplight. Looking back on it, I probably should have just turned off of military onto Chevy Chase parkway or something, but I wasn't all that familiar with any of the side roads, and it was getting dark. So I continued on Military, getting interrupted every block, until 27th. I didn't want to continue into Rock Creek Park, so I turned left and ran on some residential street until it dead ended, at which point I doubled back, not quite sure where I was. Luckily I made it back home, and although my run was choppy to say the least, it definitely provided me with some good training hills. On the last hill I really opened up my stride, which felt great (it was a double block, so I wasn't abruptly halted). I've realized that when I run alone, pacing becomes quite the issue. Sometimes I feel like I'm booking it when I'm really running at an 8min pace, while other times I'm barely sweating at 7:15. Even more the reason to run in a team and have pacing forever ingrained in my brain, I guess.
